Raising of the Cross on Good Friday

Last evening was sunny and balmy, a change from earlier in the day. Royal Northern Sinfonia arrived at St. Mary's Church to perform a varied programme including Debussy, Britten and Mozart's Gran Partita, only to find there was an Electricity cut! Happily, all power was restored by 7 pm, by which time a steady stream of people was approaching the church. RNS will be back on 19th July performing "Dvorak in America". More news in due course. Thanks to everyone who came and to those who helped, in any way. Peter Francomb, Section Leader French Horn, leads the players down from the rostrum at the end.

Saint Mary's Ponteland choir end of term party hosted by Lynne and Ted.

On the 14th September in St Mary’s we enjoyed an unforgettable performance by the Voices of Hope Choir. It was a mesmerising experience – spinetingling, exciting, entertaining and a joy!  The Guide Dogs and Hearing Dogs (and their trainers) who came, were delighted by both the music and the amount raised on their behalf (£1,000 for Guide Dogs & £400 for Hearing Dogs!) We heard classical pieces, church music, Northumberland folk songs, a pop song, Shenandoah and Danny Boy and the finale was a Gospel song!  Our own director of Music, Warren Smith and his fiancée, Michelle, sing with this choir, which was a special bonus, and … everybody went home happy!
